The country's leading oil and gas producer China National Petroleum Corporation is taking urgent steps to meet the rising demand for gas caused by falling temperatures and snow.

The daily natural gas supply of CNPC nationwide has increased from 169 million cubic meters at the beginning of this month to the current 189 million cubic meters, said the Beijing-based firm.
Despite the company's gas transmission pipelines reaching full capacity, the yield will not be restrained or gas prices increased. The oil and gas producer would do its best to guarantee the demand for local residents' daily life use and the demand in Beijing and other cities, by reducing supplies to some industrial enterprises.
"CNPC is making every effort to meet the demand. There is no need to restrain the total yield to raise the gas price," said a high level official of CNPC.
