To be circulated in and outside China, the English version aims at becoming an authoritative platform to interpret the ideology and strategies of the CPC and the government in governing the country, according to the letter.

It also aims to serve as a "high-end channel" to publicize China's development theories and modes as well as an "important window" for overseas political circles, academic circles and the public to understand Chinese affairs, the letter read.

The Chinese version of Qiushi was founded on July 1, 1988, the 67th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Its predecessor was Hongqi, or the Red Flag. The magazines have been important for publicizing theories of the CPC Central Committee to direct work of the Party and the country.
