Sohu TV focuses more on self-produced programs

Of course, self-made dramas are not the only secret weapon for the company. It has also discovered a new way to produce TV talent shows, with Driving You Home as a case in point.

The idea for the TV show initially came from Chinese writer Ding Dingzhang, who longed to explore the living conditions and stories of personal growth through different women living in Chinese metropolitan areas.

The talent show invites several women from all walks of life and records their lives on their way back home.

Most of the interviewees are Beijing drifters who have stayed in the capital for a short period or for many years. Their stories, dreams, lifestyles, happiness and sorrows have caused a sensation on the internet.

The first season of the talent show has concluded, with 170 million hits on Sohu TV, and sparked heated discussions on Sina Weibo.
