During the three-day holiday, Chinese people usually chose to travel back to their hometown for a family reunion or make short-distance trips. This year, Beijing has prepared for the heavy traffic congestion that's expected ahead of and during the holiday.
Local railway departments are set to increase train services to cater to the growing number of travels. In Beijing, the traffic peak on the city's expressways is estimated to be between 10 am to noon on Friday, while Beijing Capital International Airport will see the most flights on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Meanwhile, the capital's subway Lines 1, 2 and 4 will extend operational hours during the holiday.
