Zhu Yigeng, a customs officer with Dachan Customs under the administration of Guangzhou customs, said it was the first time Guangzhou Customs joined hands with local marine police in fighting against smuggling at the mouth of the Pearl River.

"Smuggling refined oil products into Guangdong from abroad has seriously disrupted the domestic normal social and economic orders and brought huge hidden safety dangers to local residents, as most of the smuggled oil has unidentified sources and poor quality problems," he said.

Zhu hinted more special campaigns will be launched in cooperation with police and relevant departments in the fight against smuggling in the coming months.
