Symphony music synchronized with the fast-paced, surging rhythms of China's traditional Mongolian horse-head fiddle - morin khuur - stirred people's hearts on a journey to vast grasslands where thousands of horses were galloping.
It was one of the several highlights of a concert held at the Beijing Concert Hall on Monday night, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Music School of Minzu University of China, a leading musical school in folk music education in the country.
The two-hour concert featured diversified music types, especially those sung by Chinese ethnic groups, such as the Mongolian, Uyghur, Hui, Tong, Miao and Tibetan, showcasing the country's colorful musical legacy inherited over centuries.
