Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Washington for talks with US President Donald Trump on Nov 13.

Erdogan's planned trip to Washington had been put into doubt following votes in the US House of Representatives aiming to sanction Turkey and to recognize the mass killings of Armenians a century ago as genocide.

But Erdogan's office said in a statement that the two leaders held a telephone conversation Wednesday during which they "reconfirmed that they will meet in Washington on Wednesday, Nov 13, on President Trump's invitation."

Trump tweeted that he had "a very good call" with Erdogan, saying he looks forward to meeting his Turkish counterpart.

"Also talked about their Border with Syria, the eradication of terrorism, the ending of hostilities with the Kurds, and many other topics," Trump added.
