A music festival set in rice fields was recently held in Luoyang, Central China's Henan province, the first of its kind to mark the start of harvest.

Surrounded by golden rice crops and green hills, the festival on Nov 8 was held in a village in Luoyang's Ruyang county. A symphony orchestra from Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, performed several classics, offering the audiences an audiovisual feast. Some of the highlights were Brahms's Hungarian Dances and Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Aside from the concert, on show was hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group, and there was poetry reading, dance and a flute performance.
