chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2021-03-06 09:00

Editor's note: China will raise the statutory retirement age in a phased manner during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period, according to a government work report submitted Friday to the national legislature for deliberation. Currently, in China, the retirement age for men is 60, while for women it is 55 for white-collar workers and 50 for blue-collar employees. Do you think it is time to raise the retirement age? Readers share their opinions.

People are living longer today, that's why there is a need to raise the retirement age. China has seen a rise in people's average life expectancy over the years, but the retirement age has remained unchanged for more than four decades. It is time for a change.
