Photos of sunk panels of some ancient architecture in Fuzhou, Fujian province, went viral online recently, as the complicated, colorful patterns look like kaleidoscope.

The photos were taken by a student, whose online handle on Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like platform, is "hetanggongwu". He told media that he has great interest in traditional culture and architectural art. He spent two days visiting historical attractions in the city such as Tingzhou guild hall, Xichan temple and Gutian guild hall taking photos. He said he wanted to "let more people appreciate the beauty of ancient buildings, and raise the awareness of cultural preservation".
