Arts, crafts masters recognized in Tibet

An event organized to select masters in various arts and crafts kicked off at the Tibet Museum of Natural Science in Lhasa, Tibet autonomous region, on Thursday.

Participants include experts, artists, craftsmen and supervisors from all walks of life.

"With 286 entries from more than nine categories, the works of arts and crafts chosen for the event include thangka painting, metal forging, clay sculpture, wood carving, stone carving, embroidery, weaving, clothing, leather goods, pottery and traditional musical instruments," said Tenzin, an official of the city's bureau of economy and information technology, adding that selections will be announced by Saturday.
