Beijing Chinese Orchestra has launched its new performing season, with 10 concerts to be held throughout this year.

The opening concert was held at Beijing Concert Hall on March 19. Under the baton of conductor Zhang Ming, nine principal musicians of the orchestra, including pipa player Wang Jingjing, erhu player Cui Can and percussionist Song Yibo performed as soloists.

On April 20, the orchestra will perform under the baton of conductor Hu Yongyan at the National Center for the Performing Arts.

Veteran Chinese musicians, including pipa player Wu Yuxia, will be guest performers during the new season.

A multitude of pieces will be performed, including Silk Road Fantasia Suite and Pipa Concerto No.2 composed by Zhao Jiping.

Beijing Chinese Orchestra was founded in September 2015, centering on performing music pieces composed for traditional Chinese musical instruments.
