Officially opened to the public in 1963, the National Art Museum of China is one of the most visited cultural venues in Beijing. A stamp will be issued on May 23 to mark the museum's 60th anniversary this year.

The stamp features the six-character title of the NAMOC, in calligraphic script, which was originally written by late chairman Mao Zedong. It also shows the museum's main building, with a design that incorporates elements of traditional Chinese architecture — the style of a storied pavilion (ge) and a roof of yellow glazed tiles.

Since its opening, NAMOC has presented a diverse program of exhibitions and built an assembly of over 130,000 objects. On May 23, the museum will open four anniversary exhibitions to show its classic collections and its commitment to preserving Chinese cultural traditions through exhibiting and researching overtime.
