Rail travel spikes in Guangdong; summer rush ends

Passenger travel via railways with the China Railway Guangzhou Group increased dramatically during the summer travel rush, according to the railway operator.
More than 119.73 million passenger trips, an increase of 68.4 percent over the same period last year, were made during the 62-day summer travel rush in the railway group.
The summer rush, an annual fixture for the country's railway system as college students return home for family visits, ended on Thursday.
