The most pressing needs at this time are water, sanitation and shelter, Caroline Holt, global director of operations at the federation, said in Geneva. "We need to make sure that we avoid a second wave of disaster," Holt said.

Zhang Feigong, chief of the Agadir unit of the Chinese medical team in Morocco, told Xinhua News Agency that the team has donated urgently needed medical supplies such as finger pulse oximeters and hand sanitizers to local hospitals.

Morocco's King Mohammed VI visited a hospital in the city of Marrakech on Tuesday, inquiring about the recovery services and care being provided for those injured in the quake and the conditions of survivors, according to the official MAP news agency.
