Chinese team performs eye surgeries in Africa

Six medical experts from the Ningxia Hui autonomous region are performing eye cataract surgeries for residents in Benin at the invitation of the West African country's ministry of health.

According to Qiu Song, the leader of the team, they plan to carry out 200 surgeries before they leave.

The team — one administrator, three doctors and two nurses from Ningxia People's Hospital and Yinchuan First People's Hospital — work together to screen patients, perform the surgeries and conduct post-operative check-ups. They aim to do 20 to 25 surgeries per day.
