The Wenchang International Aerospace City Administration and the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau joined forces on Wednesday to host the second "Meteorology and Aerospace Hand in Hand" carnival at the Wenchang Aerospace Science Popularization Center.

The event brought together members of the public and students from diverse backgrounds to commemorate the Space Day of China, which falls on April 24 every year.

The science center opened its doors to the public and hosted a series of science popularization activities, including an event launch ceremony, a meteorological and aerospace science and technology lecture, a rocket lab, and a space science popularization carnival.

These activities were designed to coincide with the ninth Space Day of China, aiming to integrate space science and meteorological science, impart scientific knowledge to the public, ignite a passion for space and aviation, and inspire students to pursue careers in the space industry, according to the Wenchang International Aerospace City Administration.

About 300 primary and secondary school students took part in the space science popularization carnival. With the nearby aerospace launch sites as a backdrop, they created aerospace and meteorological paper models, tried their luck at the popular science turntable, and even crafted their own remote sensing geographical maps. The carnival also featured an aerospace-themed darts competition, space printmaking, coconut carving, oil painting and more.

"I came all the way for this event, and I'm absolutely thrilled and excited," said Bai Ying, a retired dance teacher from Beijing. After attending the carnival, she shared that every time she witnesses a rocket launch, she feels an overwhelming sense of pride and patriotism as a Chinese citizen.
