China's online travel agency, Ctrip, released its latest tourism report for the Chinese market, and said that the enthusiasm of travelers remains high during the May Day holiday, with the outbound and inbound travel bookings seeing an obvious growth.
Unlike short-distance travel during the Qingming Festival, medium- and long-distance travel has become the focus during the May Day holiday, with domestic long-distance travel orders accounting for 56 percent.
As infrastructure improves and hospitality capabilities expand, travel destinations in lower-tier markets are embracing a surge in popularity.
In terms of overall bookings, Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing are the top three popular destinations.
