China's first offshore wind power project that entirely uses ultra-large-capacity wind turbines achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation on Thursday in Zhangzhou, Fujian province.
With a total installed capacity of 400 megawatts, the Three Gorges Group Zhangpu Phase II offshore wind power project is located in the waters of Zhangpu county, approximately 30 kilometers from the coastline.
It entirely utilizes wind turbines with a single-unit capacity of 13 MW or higher, with the project featuring the application of six 16-MW offshore wind turbine units.
Following the project's commissioning, it is expected to produce 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually.
This production is estimated to meet the annual electricity consumption needs of 680,000 households and result in a reduction of approximately 1.36 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
