From awareness to action: The new faces of environmental advocacy
The Linglong Project is a public climate action initiative organized by Friends of Nature, an environmental NGO established in 1993, and the climate change party Liu attended is part of this project.
According to Friends of Nature, the Linglong Project offers online climate foundation courses open to all applicants. For those selected as seed fellows through interviews, the program provides a comprehensive package of measures, including course empowerment, mentorship and guidance, community learning and support, funding and platforms, and support for spreading influence.
As a current seed fellow of the project, Liu hopes to deepen his understanding of environmental issues and, with guidance from his mentor, learn how to promote environmental awareness and enhance the initiatives launched by himself and his schoolmates, who are also skiing enthusiasts.
Another attendee, 31-year-old Hua Yu-po from Taiwan, became a seed fellow in 2022 and now serves as a mentor in the project. For two years, she has led an initiative titled "We, as the Climate Solution," which aims to bridge the gap between the broader narrative of climate change and inspire individuals to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
"Through a series of five workshops, I engage participants on topics such as sustainable board games, eco-villages, the circular economy, food waste, and their relationship with climate change," Hua said.
