Shanghai leads revitalization along Yangtze River Delta region

In response to the initiative for further development of counties and districts along the Yangtze River Delta region, an investor alliance was launched during the 2024 Yangtze River Delta County (City) District High-Quality Integrated Seminar on Monday. Meanwhile, a new roadshow center was also inaugurated during the event in Shanghai.

Representatives from six counties and districts in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, as well as 10 members of the Yangtze River Delta High-End Think Tank Alliance, gathered in Shanghai's Putuo district for the seminar. The conference focused on how counties and districts along the Yangtze River Delta can develop new quality productive forces and how to outline a blueprint for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).

The integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region is a national strategy which is now in its sixth year. The ambitious plan aims to build the region into a world-class cluster of cities, with counties and districts serving as important players in its high-quality integrated development, according to experts at the seminar.

Focusing on new technologies, industries and business models, various new projects were unveiled at the newly-launched roadshow center to showcase scientific and technological inventions from counties and districts in the area, which include the waste recycling digital platform and industrialization, waste battery recycling and utilization, Tysun maintenance system based on AI and drones to enable full inspection of photovoltaic power stations, lead-carbon battery energy storage and projects empowering smart agriculture, among others.
