In both large works of several meters in width and smaller ones, centimeters in size, Xiao presents an accumulation of techniques. He also shares intensified understanding of the different takes on relations between people and nature in the East and the West. Especially in his ink works, Xiao applies strong colors that are not so often used to lay out extensively, in classic Chinese painting, such as purple. Such bold strokes have lent an experimental spirit to his work.
