China's next cargo mission to the Tiangong space station, the Tianzhou 8, is set to launch in the coming days, as the combination of the spaceship and the Long March-7 Y9 carrier rocket was transported vertically to the launch area in Hainan province on Wednesday.
According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, the recent severe typhoon that struck Hainan had a disruptive impact on mission preparations, with the launch preparation team swiftly completing post-disaster recovery efforts.
Currently, the facilities and equipment at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan are in good condition, it said.
Subsequent activities will proceed as planned, including various pre-launch functional checks and joint tests.
The spacecraft is scheduled to be launched at an opportune time in the near future, the report said.
