China issues yellow alert for snowstorms, cold wave

China's National Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert, the second severest in the four-tier warning system, for heavy snow at 10 am today, forecasting significant snowfall from 2 pm Monday to 2 pm Tuesday.

According to the center, heavy to severe snowstorms are expected in northeastern Inner Mongolia autonomous region and most of Northeast China.

Snowfall may reach 20 to 26 millimeters in northern Heilongjiang province, northeastern Liaoning province and southeastern Jilin province, where snow accumulation is predicted to increase by 5 to 10 centimeters in these areas.

From Monday to Wednesday, rain, snow or sleet is forecasted for eastern Inner Mongolia, northern part of North China and Northeast China.
