"This work will not only showcase the Western fascination with the mysterious Eastern ancient world, but will also introduce a stylish, modern version of Chinese classical aesthetics, beloved by contemporary children," Mao said.

The musical features an abundance of folk music, drawing from traditional songs from various regions of China. Composer Zhang Yixin noted that these folk songs not only enhance the narrative and characterization, but also allow young audiences to experience the charm of ethnic music.

The production features 21 talented young actors and boasts a team of top creatives — including playwright Feng Li, known for her successful works such as The Cat God in the Forbidden City. The design team includes lighting designer Ren Dongsheng and costume designer Yang Donglin, both celebrated for their contributions to the dance drama Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting.
