Original sketches from the widely acclaimed animated short film Nobody are making their public debut at the Yao — Chinese Folktales immersive art exhibition, which opened on Friday at the Edge Plaza in Shanghai's Jing'an district.

The exhibition, inspired by the hit animation series known for its distinctive Chinese aesthetic, offers a walk-through journey that blends traditional artistry with modern interactive technology.

Based on the first two seasons of the popular series, the exhibition spans over 2,000 square meters and comprises 17 sections divided into four chapters. It features over 300 behind-the-scenes items, including original sketches from Nobody.

Visitors can expect an engaging experience enhanced by exhibition–theater integration and 3D interactive elements.

A unique, hand-carved puppet performance is also being staged as part of the exhibition.

Xue Tianchong, academic adviser to the exhibition, said the event seeks to explore how traditional Chinese cultural elements can be translated through contemporary art forms and become more widely accepted by audiences.

The exhibition is jointly produced by Damai Unlimited Art, Shanghai Film Infinity and K Wah International.

To cater to visitors traveling from other cities, the Damai app offers ticket packages that combine exhibition entry with vouchers for Shanghai Wild Animal Park or Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
