Addressing the event, Zhao Fei, minister of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, emphasized that Chinese is the only writing system in the world that has been used continuously to this day without interruption, noting that "it connects the past with the present".

Zhao added that Learning Chinese is not only about mastering a language. It will open a new door for students, and give them a stage to explore their potential — from building cultural bridges to exploring future career paths and appreciating rich traditions.

Zhao concluded by expressing hope that through language learning, young people in both China and the UK, including all the students on-site, will continue to deepen mutual understanding and become ambassadors of friendship between two countries, promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and the healthy and steady development of China-UK relations.
