HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks gained 408.9 points, or 1.97 percent to close at 21,196.87 Monday, trailing gains overnight on Wall Street after the better-than-expected unemployment numbers released by the US government.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 312 points higher and surged higher after hitting the day low of 21,080.76.
Turnover was HK$64.33 billion ($8.3 billion), slightly down from Friday's HK$69.51 billion.
