BEIJING -- China's 3G mobile phone users reached 102 million by the end of September, 43.16 million of which used the country's self-developed TD-SCDMA standard, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Due to the fast increase of mobile phone users, China's telephone users hit a new record high of 1.24 billion by the end of September, said Xiao Chunquan, director general of the Bureau of Operation Monitoring and Coordination of MIIT, at a press conference held by the State Council's Information Office on Wednesday.
According to Xiao, the 3G network covered all cities, counties and some villages in China.
During the first three quarters, the country's telecom sector posted a 10 percent year-on-year growth in revenues from its main business, with comprehensive charges down 5.1 percent, said Xiao.
