Aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) has been in talks with suppliers over future production of its C929 wide-body passenger plane, an industry insider said.
COMAC has expressed its intention to develop the C929 and is soliciting ideas from suppliers of its upcoming C919 narrow-body airliner, said Alan Jones, president and CEO of Aviage Systems, a joint venture of the General Electric and Aviation Industry Corp of China.
Aviage Systems, which provides avionics systems for the C919 project, is likely to be chosen for the C929 based on its current partnership with COMAC, Jones said.
During the 10th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, which concluded on Sunday in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, Aviage Systems signed a long-term agreement with Crane Aerospace and Electronics, Power Solutions to provide ELDEC power conditioning modules for Aviage Systems' integrated modular avionics platform solution that will be deployed on the C919.
The move aims to provide the C919 with the most advanced avionics systems with optimal design and the lowest risks, Lu Xiaorong from Aviage Systems said.
