China's Internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd owns half of the country's top 10 mobile applications by monthly active users, according to a report released by Internet consultancy Analysys International.
The report released on Wednesday showed that Tencent's popular mobile messaging apps WeChat and QQ ranked No 1 and No 2 in China with monthly active users of 383 million and 316 million in December respectively.
Baidu Inc's mobile search ranked third with monthly active users of 136 million in December followed closely by Alibaba Group Holding's mobile shopping app Taobao, which had a monthly active users of 123 million.
Mobile Taobao is the only application in the top 10 app list owned by e-commerce giant Alibaba, compared with two applications owned by Baidu and five owned by Tencent.
