China shares open 0.45 percent higher

Updated: 2009-01-16 10:26 Chinese share prices regained Thursday's lost ground on Friday morning with the key stock index opening 0.45 percent higher. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, opened 8.71 points higher at 1,928.92 and gained as much as 1.3 percent minutes into trading.
Gains on the Wall Street also contributed to the recovering investor confidence, said analysts. Overnight the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.15 percent to 8,212.49, compared to the 2.94-percent loss in the previous session. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
