BEIJING - Chinese equities closed almost flat on Tuesday as the market stabilized after experiencing the biggest daily fall in eight months on the previous day.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange ended at 2,979.53 points,down 0.77 points, or 0.03 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index went down 0.91 percent, or 105.6 points, to close at 11,538.98 points.
Total turnover shrank to 228.64 billion yuan ($33.48 billion) from 275.35 billion yuan on the previous trading day. Gainers outnumbered losers by 558 to 290 in Shanghai and 587 to 312 in Shenzhen.
