China Brand Research Center will begin its China-Brand Power Index (C-BPI) survey for 2012, covering 152 industries in 30 cities, and ending on Jan 15, 2012.

The Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Miao Yu, said the consumer products sector is urged to take the lead to enhance its branding.

The C-BPI focuses its thorough survey on grass-root consumers and is dedicated to establishing scientific brand evaluation systems.

The Director of the center Zhou Feng said the index has made a great impact and raised brand awareness for domestic and overseas enterprises operating in China.

Zhou said some companies have integrated the C-BPI in their business strategy.

The center will announce next year’s listed brands results on Feb 21, 2012

To forge C-BPI into enterprises’ branding benchmark, the center will offer consultancy business and help enterprises set up their brand management mechanism.

The 2011 C-BPI results, announced in June, listed a total of 105 brands. The results found that domestic brands -- both State-owned and private -- are feeling the effects of mounting competition in the consumer market.

The China Brand Research Center, backed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, cooperated with leading research companies, and prestigious universities and academic institutes, including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
