6th WEC to deepen industrial reform amid green shift

The 6th World Economic and Environmental Conference, an annual high-level summit titled as "move towards green and low-carbon road, deepen industrial reform, keep on harmonious development", will be held late this year, following a news conference and an awarding ceremony of the 3rd International Carbon-Value Award on June 30.

The summit, which serves as an exchange and cooperation platform between China and the world in terms of green, ecological, low-carbon and sustainable development, is expected to outstrip the past five conferences in size and scale, and attract round 800 attendees from UN system, international organizations, industry and business circles, academic institution, media and so on.

The conference is set to add two new exhibition areas, showing pictures and video of public-service education of ecological deterioration and climate change, as well as green-benefit brand and achievement of the enterprises in the process of green and low-carbon development.

The upcoming conference will cover forums including the International Forum on Green and Low-Carbon Development of Coal Industry, International Forum on Clean Air Technology and Air Pollution Control, International Forum on Distributed Energy and Smart Grid, International Forum on Eco-tourism and Cultural Heritage Protection and Innovation, Forum on Daily Waste Treatment and Resource Reuse in Chinese Cities, and International Forum on Industrial Energy Conservation and Clean Production.

Meanwhile, also included in the WEC are the International Forum on Green and Low-carbon Development of Information Industry, International Forum on Ecological Agriculture and Green Food, International Forum on Resource and Reuse of Textile and Garment Industries, International Forum on Market Cooperation of Water Resource Management and Water Treatment Technology, International Forum on Industry Investment and Green Finance, and Forum on China's New Type Urbanization and Green Building Industry Development.

The 6th WEC is co-organized by United Nations Industrial Development Organization, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and International Energy Conservation Environmental Protection Association, and is partnered with United Nations Development Program, UNAPCAEM, WWF, NDRC International Cooperation Center.
