BEIJING -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang extended warm congratulations to the 15th Session of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) General Conference, which opened in Peru's capital of Lima on Monday.
In a video message, Li said that "inclusive and sustainable industrial development," which is the theme of the conference, is a pressing issue facing countries in the world.
Li stressed the need to improve the level of industrialization, raise people's living standard and lift more people out of poverty, which hold the key to inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
The Chinese premier underlined the importance of resources conservation and environmental protection in steering countries to a path of new-type industrialization.
Li also called on governments to focus more on managerial innovation and technological progress and to tap the full potential of human resources, so as to achieve transformation-oriented development and green development.
Giving top priority to development and people's livelihood, China will steadfastly deepen reform and opening-up, he said.
Based on its national conditions, China will also spare no efforts to optimize its industrial structure and embrace an innovation-driven development path featuring new-type industrialization.
The premier said the Chinese government will provide strong support for the work of UNIDO, pledging efforts in promoting the inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
UNIDO is a specialize agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability.
The mandate of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition. China's former Vice Finance Minister Li Yong was elected director-general of UNIDO in June.
