ADDIS ABABA - China has been doing quite a lot of work to the development of the agriculture sector in Africa, said Tumusiime Rhoda Peace, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture at the African Union (AU) Commission.

During a media briefing on Tuesday on the framework of the 22nd AU Summit at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Commissioner noted that China is doing a lot of work in Africa, especially in infrastructure, which she said is extremely important for intra-Africa trade and agriculture development on the African continent.

Rhoda Peace stated that China is one of the partners, with whom AU is cooperating in agriculture. She said Africa is learning a lot from China for the development of the agriculture sector.

Apart from carrying out infrastructure developments in African countries, China is also investing through the private sector in agro-processing, she said.
