Each new regional airport in Yunnan province may get a subsidy of 100 million yuan ($16.29 million) from the local government, with four new airports to be established by 2015, according to suggestions released by the government on Wednesday.

The government also hopes to finance special funds to support new international routes, mainly connecting Southeast Asian and South Asian regions.

By 2020, the province should have 20 civil airports and 45 general aviation airports, according to the government document, and 90 percent of the population in the province will be able to easily access aviation services, with more than 410 routes.

The passenger throughput in the province should reach 100 million person-trips by 2020 and the schedule rate, a measure of scheduled services arriving and departing on time, for Kunming Changshui Airport should reach 85 percent by then, the government said.
