Sponsor-to-sponsor deals will likely see an uptick in China from emerging market private equity funds eager to put their capital to work, according to a latest report of Bain & Co.

Sponsor-to-sponsor transactions refer to asset sales between PE funds. These are well suited to accommodate the strong flow of sales by general partners seeking to fully liquidate holdings.

In addition to China, such transactions are expected to grow in importance across the globe in 2014, Bain & Co said.

The report also said the long-awaited reopening of the initial public offering market by regulators on the Chinese mainland will enable PE funds to begin exiting a stockpile of investments.
