On April 11, Reed Exhibitions Greater China, a leading international event organizer, signed an MOU for strategic cooperation with the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition (CCPIT Chengdu).

Through this new cooperation agreement, the two sides agreed to continue to work together in the long term through regular high-level consultations and exchanges, as they promote a comprehensive range of activities. These include information sharing, executive and line staff training, enhanced support for Reed Exhibitions' Chengdu-based events in the fields of electronics manufacturing, medicine and medical equipment, gifts and homeware. The signing of this MoU concludes Reed's second such agreement with a significant Chinese city, following the MoU signed with CCPIT Shanghai in July 2013.

Nat Wong, President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China commented at the signing ceremony, "Although first-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai have traditionally been at the forefront of China's thriving exhibition industry, second and third-tier cities, particularly those in the Midwest, have made impressive strides forward. Reed views this partnership with CCPIT Chengdu as a win-win collaboration. This is a cost-effective, upwardly scalable and rapidly developing part of the country which we are happy to invest into by bringing our shows, many of them featuring giants in local and international industries they serve."

Chengdu continues to enhance its reputation as an ideal location for globally significant exhibitions and conferences. The city's expanding infrastructure, and high government investment makes it one of the most attractive and flourishing commercial hubs in China today. The local government is actively seeking opportunities to work with the private sector to take the exhibition industry to the next level. The Memorandum of Understanding between Reed Exhibitions and CCPIT Chengdu is a key initiative in this direction. It has been designed to strengthen the partnership between Reed and Chengdu. Reed will benefit from the support to reach key audiences through trade events like NEPCON West China, the 6th China (Chengdu) Gifts & Houseware Fair, The 72ndAPI China, SINOPHEX and PHARMPACK.

The cooperation will also help Chengdu leverage on Reed's expansive network in attracting more events to the city. Reed looks to this MoU to further develop its presence in the city as well as the Western Region of China.
