Nonferrous metal has become a major industry in economic development in Hami prefecture, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. So far, 13 nonferrous metal processing companies have launched operations, with an annual output of 6.5 million tons. During the first six months of this year, output value totaled 880 million yuan.
Xinjiang Hami prefecture, with a total area of 153,000 square meters, is an important passageway into Chinese inland. Currently, 76 kinds of minerals have been discovered, including ferrous metal, nonferrous metal, precious metal and metallurgical auxiliary materials. Xinjiang Hami prefecture is one of China's top 10 mineral resources regions.
