World's longest aircraft debuts in Chengdu

Air China began operating the Boeing 747-8, the world's longest aircraft, on the Beijing-Chengdu route on Sunday. With a total length of 76.4 meters, the 747-8 is designed to accommodate 365 passengers and its maximum flight range is 14,815 km. Currently, the Boeing 747-8 is the biggest aircraft operating from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, while Air China is the first domestic airline company to fly this aircraft. According to Air China, the company has ordered seven 747-8 planes, and the delivery will be completed by the end of 2015.
