Top 10 countries with the most electronic waste

With 7.07 million electronic waste in 2014, also known as e-waste, the United States leads the countries that produce the most electronic waste last year, according to a research report released by United Nations University (UNU) on April 19.

About 42 million tons of e-waste was dumped around the globe last year, and it is estimated that only 6.5 million tons were taken for recycling, according to the report.

The electronic wasted, defined by UNV as the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and its parts that have been discarded by its owners as waste without the intent of re-use.

The report said that the e-waste can be classified into six categories, including temperature exchange equipment, screens and monitors, lamps, large equipment, small equipment and small IT and telecommunication equipment.
