Volkswagen recalls 61k vehicles over faulty engines

Imported and locally produced Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche branded cars powered by 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engines are set to be recalled on Mar 20, for a bad seal in the fuel injection system that may produce fumes or create fire hazards in extreme circumstances according to plan filed by the companies on Friday.

The companies will recall a total of 61,046 vehicles in total.

FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd, Volkswagen (China) Sales Co, Porsche (China) Sales Co filed the recall plan on Friday, and will replace the components in the fuel injection system free of charge, according to General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The infected models include:

32,371 imported Audi A5, A5 Cabriolet, A7, Q7, A8L manufactured between April 2011 and February 2012;

16,725 imported Volkswagen Touareg and Touareg Hybrid made between April 2011 and February 2012;

2,815 Audi A4L, A6L locally produced between July 2011 and June 2012;

9,135 imported Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S Hybrid, Panamera S Hybrid manufactured between April 2011 and March 2012.
