Huawei a major player in China-EU relations: envoy

Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei plays an important role in the development of China-EU relations, said Yang Yanyi, ambassador of the Chinese Mission to the European Union.

Yang made the remark at "China Europe: Investment in a Common Future", a lunch event held on March 18.

Yang mentioned that China has embarked on comprehensive reforms, with the goal of shifting the country's growth model from one that is heavily dependent on investment and external demand to one driven by domestic demand, technology and a world-class competitive edge.

Besides, the reforms aim to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

During this process, she said, Huawei has been constantly pushing itself to achieve world-class standards in its services and products. This is fully in line with the established goal of both China and the EU to strive for innovation and inclusive and sustainable development.

According to Leo Sun, president of Huawei's Brussels office and the European Affairs Department, Huawei's procurement amount in Europe reached $3.4 billion in 2013 with significant growth in the following years.
