'Brand economy' bolsters Jiangxi economy

Updated: 2006-07-25 10:22 The central tour of Brand Promotion initiated by the Ministry of Commerce launched the opening ceremony of Jiangxi activities in Nanchang, capital of the province, on July 24. Vice-Minister of Commerce Liao Xiaoqi and Vice-governor of Jiangxi provincial government Sun Gang addressed the ceremony respectively. Local government officials and representatives from local enterprises also attended the ceremony.
Brand construction in Jiangxi has achieved substantial progress in recent years with an annual sales value of 10.3 billion yuan for famous brand products. Brand economy becomes an important support for Jiangxi's economy. Jiangxi has formed a favourable environment of cultivating, promoting, protecting and developing brands with policy support, fund investment guide and prompting mechanism construction. The province boasts 10 national famous brand products and 213 provincial famous brand products so far. The accumulative number of registered trademarks hit 35,000 in Jiangxi during the 10th Five-Year Plan period (2000-2005). With a favourable natural environment, Jiangxi makes great efforts to develop green (organic) foods and builds 503 green (organic) food brands with local characteristics. China's largest organic tea production base is located in Jiangxi. As parts of the Brand Promotion tour activities, a symposium on the brand development of green food in Jiangxi and a Jiangxi brand development forum were also held in Nanchang on July 24. |
