Turtle lays strange egg, draws onlookers

A special turtle egg has attracted many curious people to Conghua, a suburban city of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province.

The egg, which a female turtle laid on Monday, was in cylinder-shape. It reaches more than 4.8 centimetres long while its diameter comes to 2 centimetres.

The turtle's owner, surnamed Chen, said he had never seen such a turtle egg before. Chen said he had raised the turtle for several years and fed the animal with only common food, including pork and rice.

In the previous years, the turtle usually laid small, round eggs.

Chen complained his home has recently become a tourist attraction after his turtle laid the special egg.
