Business booming at revolution restaurant
(China Daily)
Updated: 2006-09-18 09:06 A "cultural revolution" theme restaurant has done brisk business since it opened in Guangzhou several months ago. In addition to decor from the special period (1966-76), all the restaurant's waiters and waitresses wear the green military uniforms that were worn during the revolution. The walls are adorned with revolutionary slogans and portraits of the late Chairman Mao. Manager Wen, who runs the restaurant on the busy Sanyu Road, said during that time he was an educated urban youth working in the countryside. He said he runs the special restaurant to reminisce about past events and years. Most of the restaurant's visitors are senior citizens. Southern Metropolis News |
