'Green lake' province promotes tourism

XINING, Qinghai --The first Qinghai International Thangka Arts and Cultual Heritage Expo & the 5th Ethnic Cultural and Tourist Festival opened in Xining on June 15, the capital city of Northwest China’s Qinghai Province.

The cultural festival features Tibetan Thangka -- a special Buddhist art, and many other folk arts will be shown as well during this festival through June 18, such as paper-cut, folk painting, minority nationality costume show.

All the cultural exhibition are from Regong, Huangnan County. The festival is aimed to show the culture enchantment in this area, and to promote tourism in Qinghai Province, also known as “Green Lake”.

Tibetan Thangka is a complicated object produced by painters and tailors with different intents, skills and training. Made to serve as a guide for contemplative experience, it is popular among Buddhists in Tibetan area.

Qinghai’s culture is given the close proximities as well as a shared history with the neighboring Tibet Autonomous Region. With rich tourist resources, the provincial government is trying hard to develop tourism industry. With great effort made, Qinghai is catching more and more attention from home and aboard.
