Serial rapist, killer confesses after arrest in NE China
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-06-22 20:56 SHENYANG - A serial rapist and killer who had murdered five people was arrested in a northeast China province on Friday, police said on Sunday. The killer named Li Dexin, 37, had raped more than eight women and killed five others indoors in northeast China's Liaoning and Jilin provinces since this January. The investigation was labelled Liaoning Province's second most important case, provincial police said. Two college students were raped, robbed and killed indoors in March and April. The police soon confirmed that those attacks were carried out by the same person using similar methods. Police narrowed the suspect's activity area to the boundary areas of the two provinces and started searching. The man, with at least 11 cases against him, was arrested at 23:02 on Friday in Siping City, Jilin. He admitted the crimes and was sent to Tieling City in Liaoning on midnight Saturday, police said. Further investigation is underway. |
